人造絲是一種絲質的人造纖維，由纖維素（cellulose）所構成，而纖維素是構成植物主要組成部分的有機化合物。正是由于它是一種纖維素纖維，故許多性能都與其他纖維例如棉和亞麻纖維的性能相同。此種纖維呈齒圓形。

玻璃紙

玻璃紙是一種是以棉槳、木槳等天然纖維為原料，用膠黏法制成的薄膜。它透明、無毒無味。其分子鏈存在著一種奇妙的微透氣性，可以讓商品象雞蛋透過蛋皮上的微孔一樣進行呼吸，這對商品的保鮮和保存活性十分有利；對油性、堿性和有機溶劑有強勁的阻力；不產生靜電，不自吸灰塵；因用天然纖維制成，在垃圾中能吸水而被分解，不至于造成環(huán)境污染。廣泛應用于商品的內襯紙和裝飾性包裝用紙。它的透明性使人對內裝商品一目了然，又具有防潮、不透水、不透氣、可熱封等性能，對商品起到良好保護作用。與普通塑料膜比較，它有不帶靜電、防塵、扭結性好等優(yōu)點。玻璃紙有白色，彩色等。
